Late season offshore trip

Exhausted after working the booth all weekend at the Fishing For Miracles Tournament I got a call at 9 pm asking if I wanted to try some late season offshore trolling. After planning on some serious couch time for my Sunday I was talked into a 3 30am wake up call to find some big wahoo. It was stunning on the way out with a big red sun and glassy ocean. It is a very powerful and soothing thing to see the sun appear from the water and I was instantly glad that I drug myself out of bed. After pulling up on some ledges in 150 ft and my redbull and peanut butter crackers we were pulling baits. fishing was slow but the ocean was gorgeous and great tunes were blaring so it was all good. Did manage some wahoo, dolphin, and kings but the highlight of the day was an african Pompano on the jig. All in all it was a great day and way better than the couch. Lesson learned: when in doubt drag your ass out of bed and get out there its always worth it.
