You can hear Sam's Appalachian roots in every song he sings. Growing up in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Sam cut his teeth on the variety of music he took in around him. From folk and country to gospel and southern soul, Sam, "draws on these roots with a deep lyrical honesty and carries the tradition of folk music forward."
